Introduction

Fax Now Online accepts many different file formats to make it as flexible as possible for you to send a fax. The list below gives you an idea of all the file formats that currently work on our Fax server.

Formats

Text

We accept text files. The system transforms text files by wrapping lines that are too long. Text files work best since they are very small and are transferred quickly between servers. However, it doesn't change the time it takes to send the actual fax.

Images

JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF

Note that the default Fax format is often defined as TIFF. Our system actually prefers Postscript to TIFF since in general Postscript files (.ps) are much smaller than TIFF images.

All images will be sent in black and white and they should already be defined as such (no gray shades, no colors.) Images with colors will be transformed to a black and white image before transmission.

Note that animated images will generally not work. Only the first image will be sent.

Documents

Postscript (.ps)

We support postscript documents. This format is often used to print high quality documents on your printer. Many software are capable of outputting their data in a Postscript document.
